The client had built three new biomass plants to burn waste wood which would otherwise go to landfill: saving thousands of tonnes of CO2 going into the atmosphere, whilst supplying renewable energy to the grid. As such, the company required a multi-faceted and carefully tailored purified water solution that could top up the low loss boilers without producing a build-up of scale.
Veolia Water Technologies UK (VWT UK) was initially invited to tender for a boiler feed water treatment plant for the first wood burning plant on the East Coast. The company demonstrated its capability of supplying a total solution with more packages, which added value to the client and therefore the main contractor expanded the scope of the contract to cover two similar biomass stations elsewhere in the UK.
